Who runs El Niño Live

This website

elninolive.org sets no cookies, has no trackers and stores nothing in your browser. When you search for a town or tap Use my location, your browser sends the town's name or a point rounded to about 1 km to our server, which looks up the weather. We do not store that point with you or log it. To stop one visitor from making too many requests, our server keeps your IP address in memory for one minute and never writes it down. Your browser asks before it shares your location. Cloudflare hosts this website and carries every request to our server, so it sees your IP address and what your browser asks for.

We never sell or share your data. We do not store live locations, phone numbers, contacts, group member lists or message content. A location from your device is used for one lookup and never stored with you; the weather for it is kept for its 1 km square, without who asked.

Where it is stored

On our own server. Backups are encrypted and kept on Cloudflare R2.

How to delete it

Send /stop to @ElNinoLiveBot, or use Delete everything in the app (Me). This deletes your account, your places, your settings and the record of alerts sent to you. You can also email us.

Payments

Donations in Telegram Stars are handled by Telegram. We keep Telegram's charge ID and the amount.

Others who see some of it

Telegram delivers every message.

The map's tiles come from OpenFreeMap, which sees the map area your device loads.

For weather, our server asks MET Norway and NOAA's Aviation Weather Center about a 1 km square. They never learn who you are.

Changes

If this policy changes, this page changes and shows the new date at the top.
